One such incident took place in Windsor, Ontario in 2018. A 35-year-old man was spotted walking in a parking lot, holding a block of butcher knives. As the police approached him, he brandished one of the knives and attempted to attack the officers. Despite managing to injure one of them, the police swiftly responded by deploying a taser to incapacitate him. However, the taser didn't prove entirely effective, and they had no choice but to resort to the use of lethal force. They fired multiple shots from their pistols, ultimately bringing the situation to an end.

Another instance happened in Tecumseh, Ontario in 2019 where a man barricaded himself in a bathroom of his mother's home.  The police had to shoot him after a physical struggle trying to subdue the man who was clearly under the influence of various substances.  They had to, like above, use their pistol that eventually killed him in the hospital.  The toxicology reports after the autopsy revealed he was indeed under the influence of doctor prescribed but also street drugs.  Could he have used these not only to try to numb the pain he was experiencing, but also as a way to increase his courage to approach the police with the goal of eventually shooting him?
